Where the name comes from

From the root a-l-f: familiarity, gathering, coming together. But ilaf is not merely a word for closeness. It names a covenant of safe passage, referenced in Surat Quraysh, the pact Quraysh made with neighbouring tribes and states so its caravans could travel in safety on the winter journey to Yemen and the summer journey to the Levant.
